Ceramic figure “If you look sideways”.
Displaying a small man, his face to some strange-looking, having screw eyes.
His head quizzically tilted to one side, surveying the surroundings.
Here is a fantasy he has a positive way of looking at it.
Sitting on a circular round structure: dressed in brown with jewellery round his waist for a belt
The stories that spring to mind while looking at this work are both humorous and possibly unsettling,
bubbling up from one’s unconscious like twisted fairy tales.
I hope my ceramic figure sculpture “If you look sideways” can be seen positively, making communication within a specialised subject acceptable; rather than dismiss it as mere idealism.
The art of being open-minded is the ability to stand up for yourself and articulate your needs calmly and positively. It’s more comfortable to like or dislike abstract art, as any attempt at representational art is always prone to rapid criticism. The newness of the idea is the chief reason for our criticism of it. To see more of my whimsical, bizarre sculptures made by me on my main ceramics page. Themes vary in the artwork expressing the magical to the surreal, that is what, I like to use. Media: Stoneware-sculpture -screws-embellishments-metallic washes I call these particular ceramic sculptures “Screwed.” The idea came from a thought about the struggles we encounter in life. ”If you look sideways” is asking is there another way to look at a problem.
If you open your mind, there is always another point of view. When you buy from an independent artist, you’re purchasing more than just sculpture. You are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation. You are not buying a thing, you’re buying a piece of heart.
Part of the private moment in the artist’s life.
