Driftwood and Ceramic
“Mama’s little chicks.”
Freestanding kitsch full of whimsy sculpture,
A mother and her brood of five children, each with different expressions.
All paying attention to what she has to say.
A wire tree with mixed media blossoms
I combined driftwood, ceramic, seashells, mixed media
to make this sculpture
The bodies, driftwood, head’s ceramic and some other elements ceramic.
All painted by hand with acrylics and varnished up to 6 times.
I had tried finding the driftwood myself on very occasional visits to the seaside; thinking how hard can it be?
It proved to be impossible!
Especially as I am only there for a short time.
I live nowhere near the coast, therefore, in the end, the only way was to buy the driftwood by searching the internet.
Most came from our Jurassic coastline plus other UK locations; others from as far away as Canada and the USA.
Freestanding, kitsch, full of whimsy, humour and fun made from pieces of found driftwood by others, in my case bought from other sources.
All the ceramic and wood is completely hand made / hand-painted
One of a kind and very unique.
A piece of driftwood from the beach,
Add some imagination, let the wood talk to you,
The outcome is what you see here a truly unique piece of artwork to enjoy.
Size:27.5 x 27.5 x 7 cm
