Driftwood -ceramic -sculpture.
Freestanding whimsical, humourous.
I think you will find “Watch out crabs” sculpture fun?
An enjoyable day on the beach has turned in to a war scene!
A father is presented with a big problem!
Looking at his leg, I can see why!
Therefore, unable to move quickly in an emergency!
He seems as scared as his brood!
The three children, two boys and a girl, look so frighted not knowing what to do as they are besieged by giant crabs!
I combined driftwood, ceramic, seashells, mixed media
to make this sculpture.
The bodies; driftwood, head’s, arms legs, bucket; ceramic.
All painted by hand with acrylics and varnished up to 6 times.
I had tried finding the driftwood myself on very occasional visits to the seaside; thinking how hard can it be?
It proved to be impossible!
Especially as I am only there for a short time.
I live nowhere near the coast, therefore, in the end, the only way was to buy the driftwood by searching the internet.
Most came from our Jurassic coastline plus other UK locations; others from as far away as Canada and the USA.
Freestanding, whimsical and with humour, made from pieces of found driftwood by others, in my case bought from other sources.
All the ceramic hand made / hand-painted
One of a kind and very unique.
A piece of driftwood from the beach, on distant shores.
Add some imagination, I let the wood talk then decide what to make.
