Sculpture-ceramic-quartet shows four women sisters belting out a song on stage.
Seeing as they look similar, they must be sisters?
Inspired by my sculpture”Double act”, two men singer’s -you can see on my Ceramic page.
I decided it would be an excellent accompaniment to create one with women singers but not one figure, not two, not three but FOUR!
It is quite challenging to do, making figures on a smaller scale.
For me, they must relate to one another.
All have different facial expressions/facial gestures.
I satisfyingly achieved my aim.
I believe that is the whole essence of sculpture.
For me, as an artist, I can be quite anal about getting it right!
Then every time I look at the finished sculpture.
This paragraph comes to mind that I read somewhere on the internet?
*The perspective of an artist toward her own work is two-fold,
“When I finish a piece, for the first minute, I’m so proud, and after that, it’s ‘Hmmm, it’s not that good.’ It’s so sad because that moment of glory is just for a minute.”
But it’s that perfectionism that makes an artist’s work improve*
These are original artworks that are made by the hands of the artist.
While considering it takes weeks to months to fulfil a finished article.
I don’t believe any artist other than “famous” ones get paid for the time an artwork takes to make.
We do it for the love of creating.
To have people recognise and appreciate your work is a valued treasure for me.
The love of creating something yourself is an addiction; a pleasure.
As an artist I could not stop even if I wanted to – hopefully that will not happen.
This means that every artwork has its own shape, colour and look,
“But out of all that I create, these “whimsical” sculptures; that people just love.
These charismatic ceramic and ceramic- driftwood sculptures, that really do have engaging personalities.
